About Candace
Candace is an RN with a BSN and more than 12 years of nursing experience. She has worked in spinal cord injury rehabilitation at the VA for five years, served as a charge nurse, and trained and precepted other nurses and staff, as well as worked in med-surg and skilled nursing/SNF settings.
She has also provided one-on-one complex care, including tracheostomy and ventilator dependence. These experiences shaped how she sees patient care and how she teaches future CNAs.
Her focus is on bringing this breadth of clinical knowledge back to the classroom, ensuring that every student understands the human impact of the skills they are learning.
Why I Started Ready Set Scrubs CNA
Candace started Ready Set Scrubs CNA to give students practical, hands-on training and prepare them for the real world of healthcare. She identified a need for a training environment that prioritizes technical skill alongside the human connection that defines excellent nursing.
In her experience, CNAs are often the ones who spend the most time with patients. This work is vital, important, and meaningful. Ready Set Scrubs CNA is founded on the belief that when a CNA is confident and well-trained, the quality of patient care reaches a new level of excellence.
My Teaching Style
Hands-on learning and practical skills students will actually use in their daily clinical practice.
High expectations paired with support. I challenge my students because the work is vital, but I’m there every step of the way.
Small-class environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions and engage deeply with the material.
A focus on dignity, compassion, and respect. Real nursing is about the human connection as much as the clinical task.
Confidence through practice. We move beyond memorizing information to building true clinical confidence.
Students should leave feeling prepared, not just finished.
